Livelihood Through Entrepreneurship
ITLI'S LTE Project, in Latin America
In Guatemala, our program at Into The Light International is dedicated to addressing the pressing challenges faced by widows, particularly in the evolving landscape of the 21st century. As societal dynamics shift towards independence, widows are often left without the necessary skills and resources to support themselves and their families. The lack of work experience and societal perceptions pose significant barriers to employment, exacerbating the financial strain widows already face.
Recognizing these challenges, our Widow Program goes beyond traditional aid by focusing on empowerment, skill development, and job placement. Through comprehensive initiatives, we provide widows with training in crafting techniques, enabling them to produce high-quality crafts that are sold through our online platform. By leveraging their creativity and expertise, widows not only generate income for themselves but also contribute to the economic growth of their communities.

“A little bit of my life, my time, and my knowledge goes into each product I make. Each item has been prepared with a lot of dedication and love for my craft. It fills me with satisfaction knowing that my product will go beyond the borders of my country. ”

Our approach emphasizes empowerment through employment, skill development initiatives, and the restoration of hope and dignity. We believe in teaching individuals to fish rather than merely providing the fish, guiding them towards suitable employment or empowering them to create their own ventures. Skill-building initiatives encompass entrepreneurship, vocational skills, financial literacy, and personal development, ensuring participants gain the knowledge and confidence to thrive in various aspects of life.
We are committed to creating a sustainable impact, enabling widows and artisans with physical and cognitive disabilities to stand on their own feet and build a future filled with promise. We believe that by equipping them with the skills and resources necessary for self-sufficiency, we can foster a sense of independence and empowerment, offering them a pathway to financial stability and resilience in the face of adversity.
